Upper Hunter Groups Get Funding Boost


Michael Johnsen MP Member for Upper Hunter is delighted to announce that nine Upper Hunter projects will benefit from a share in more than $450,000 thanks to the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.

Member for Upper Hunter Michael Johnsen said the funding would support the hard work of local groups.

“I congratulate the nine groups who were successful in obtaining funding under the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund Program which focuses on ensuring communities and visitors to the Upper Hunter electorate they can continue to enjoy local land and facilities”, Mr Johnsen said.

“Merriwa Showground will receive an $110,000 grant to support the local communities who use the grounds by constructing a new accessible amenities block.

“Meanwhile a $90,000 grant will see a new water treatment plant built at Lake Liddell Recreation Area to ensure a safe water supply is available to all visitors.

“Other projects include new accessible amenities at Bunnan Hall and Dungog Common Recreation Reserve, upgrades to the tennis court at Moonan Brook Recreation Reserve, upgrade to the Gundy Recreation Ground, upgrade to the Main Camp Recreation Ground and weed programs for Crown reserves”.

“This year the NSW Nationals/Liberals have made a record investment into Crown land with more than $20 million in grants and loans being provided across the state,”

“To date, the NSW Government has invested $115 million across seven years into Crown land projects”, concluded Mr. Johnsen.
